Setting the tone for this semester

When considering college, a million thoughts can run through a new students mind. Most incoming freshman worry about the work; which they should. College is an upgrade from high school. It allows you to have more freedom. With this freedom comes much more responsibility than one would think. At first, it may seem like the world is on your shoulders, but eventually you'll fall into a routine. When I was told to consider orientation, and to wander through the SCSU website, I realized that there is much more to college than one would think. Most people have two main ideas of school, either studying, or partying. While these may both partially be a large part of the experience (whether that be good or bad), there is so much more than meets the eye. SCSU is a gateway. It is going to allow you to explore so many paths of knowledge. Regardless if a certain class pertains to your major or not, Southern allows you to explore all fields. It allows you to strengthen aspects you need to work on. As a freshman in such a beautiful university my intentions remain true: work well, laugh often, and learn much. I hope to take advantage of the many given opportunities here at Southern. Unfortunately for myself (and I’m sure many others) it won’t be so simple. It’s hard to jump right into such a new and strange environment and to adapt perfectly. I believe strongly that my biggest weakness is time management. I also need to work on staying on top of due dates (This blog is a day late..oops). While keeping this is mind at all times, I will strive to find my routine, and to learn how to overcome these weaknesses. After all, isn’t that what college is all about?
