Just because it can't be seen, doesn't mean it isn't there!

Now that we’re a few weeks in, students are starting to fall right into their daily routines of studies, hobbies, and social time. But if there is one thing that has stuck with me since the beginning, it is the so-called “invisible work” we talked about in one of our first INQ classes. I’ve come to realize exactly why this point was brought to our attention. Now, I could talk about the obvious matter of time management, which goes hand in hand with this, but rather I want to talk about the work itself. I can’t stress its importance!!!! Professors are expecting you to be doing the work without telling you! This includes reading, taking notes, doing extra research etc. I know I am one to push this stuff off because it doesn’t have a do date- so It’s not as important. FALSE! This is the stuff that pushes that B grade up to an A! I have to try hard to make sure I strive to go beyond the assignments written in the syllabus. I wish people would tell you about this more often. I bet a lot of students don’t even realize the amount of work they are pushing off on a daily basis, and how truly important it can be on their education! This attitude and commitment will allow me to branch onward into my studies, and help me to graduate with the fullest possible amount of knowledge I could have gathered in my time here at Southern. I need to incorporate this habit into my new found college routine, and continue to sort my time wisely. Hopefully someone else can read this and apply it to their new schedules too… I can’t say I didn’t tell you so!
