Do something fun on campus. It may seem odd, but the
slightest of things on campus can be deemed “fun” for me. Why you may ask?
Truth is I’m NEVER on campus. I have classes at eight am everyday and I’m out
by twelve or earlier. So this week, when I stayed after to study, a friend of
mine asked me to go eat. (Taylor was in my video!) It was surprisingly amusing
because I was so taken aback by the hustle and bustle of students everywhere. I’m
not here to see what the campus community is like besides the half asleep
morning crowd. We waited in what seemed like the forever long Mondo’s line, (My
first try of it) and then struggled to find a table. I have never seen the
student center 100 percent full before. The reality is, once we sat down and
got to eat and catch up I realized I was enjoying myself. The reason being that
for once since the beginning of my college career, I looked and felt like a
normal college student. I stopped being the girl that walked on campus, went to
class, and then left. I think that even by involving yourself in the SCSU community
in such a simple way can make a difference. So while many of you may read this,
and think that lunch with a friend is so boring, I actually enjoyed the little
social time while here on campus. I plan very much so on engaging more in activities
here at Southern. I know how much the staff and upperclassmen encourage joining
in on various clubs and activates. Here is the link to the student affairs site
which will branch off into tons of different pages based on what you would like
to see: http://www.southernct.edu/studentlife/
